You have a significant investment in your cutting tool and indirect materials inventory. In addition to the actual cost of the inventory you buy, you have all of the associated costs related to purchasing, stocking, and tracking that inventory. Your “storeroom” is a cost center and our inventory management solutions help you drastically reduce all of these inventory related costs.
Buckeye Industrial Supply has a full time department responsible for analyzing, recommending and implementing each inventory management system once we are given the go-ahead to proceed. This department includes a project manager and inventory and technical specialists who coordinate activities whether our recommended solution is a simple KanBan card system or a more sophisticated one that might include vending, inventory management software or Buckeye associates working full time inside your plant.
Each program is “customer-centric” designed to meet and satisfy the unique specific needs of each customer. We have a field tested process for putting these programs in place as a result of our 20+ years experience partnering with and helpting customers better manage their inventory.
Typically the process follows these steps:
1. Plan
Begin with an on-site survey of current processes; requisitioning, buying, receiving, stocking, disbursing, product use, invoicing, inventory investment and obsolescence. We listen to and dialogue with the key stakeholders from management, production, accounting, tool crib operations and IT to gain insight into how things are done now, the requirements for the future and the expected benefits.
Buckeye Industrial Supply then delivers a concise draft proposal based upon what we heard. This draft is the basis for additional dialogue to confirm priorities and further discuss program design and development. Click to see a SAMPLE PROGRAM SUMMARY.
From these meetings we then prepare a final proposal spelling out the program in detail; the measurable benefits that can be expected, the implementation schedule, how any concerns will be addressed, etc. A great deal of work must go into this part of the process. Experience has taught us that taking time in the beginning is the best way to create a strong foundation for a sustainable relationship and to ensure a smooth start up.
2. Do
Working closely with your personnel we will transition from the “old” to the “new” with the least possible interruption to your everyday work.
3. Act
Buckeye never forgets its roots. Woven into every program is our ongoing commitment to evaluate, test and recommend product and process improvements. We are 100% committed to ongoing cost savings. We provide the test results and financial analysis necessary for you to make an informed decision. Nothing changes without your approval. We believe that this approach has played a key role in our maintaining programs with customers - some that are over ten years old.
We continuously evaluate our performance in order to improve. As your operations change, so will ours; our commitment to service is 24/7 and you can count on us to be a dedicated and conscientious partner.
